Mrs. Preszler an Angel

By: Amamda
I think that Mrs. Preszler should be an Angel for Halloween.  I think this because she is always right on everything.  She is also super duper nice and she helps up out a lot in the classroom. She also wears a lot of white and golden clothes and is very clean.
If she is a Angel for Halloween she could wear a crown.  She would also wear a white dress and have wings on her back. She would look really cool. That is why I think that Mrs. Preszler should be an Angel for Halloween.

Dr. Crosswait the Queen

By: Ashlyn

I think that Dr. Crosswait should be a queen for Halloween.  She should be a queen because she is kind of the ruler of the school. She should be a queen because she is the principal of our school. She should be a queen because she commands people. She should be a queen because she is nice. She should also be a queen because she tells people what to do.

If Dr. Crosswait is a queen for Halloween she should wear a pink dress and a crown. If she is a queen she needs to rule over people and have a staff. She would look pretty. That is why I think she should be a queen.

Mrs. Huber the Coffee Drinking Ballerina

By: Lexie

I think that Mrs. Huber should be a coffee drinking ballerina for Halloween because she loves coffee and she acts like a ballerina. In class she does all these weird dance moves and she drinks coffee every morning. I got the ballerina part because she sometimes does kicks in the middle of class and it is weird. I got the coffee part because she drinks coffee everyday. That is why I think she should be a coffee drinking ballerina for Halloween.
If she is a coffee drinking ballerina she would have a pink tu-tu. Also, she will have coffee stains all over her tu-tu. Plus she will have a coffee mug in her hand at all times. Her shoes will be pretty and pink with coffee stains all over them. That’s is what she will look like.

THE END

Mr. Sieverding The Computer

By: Rylan

I think Mr. Sieverding should be a computer for Halloween. He fixes computer problems alot. He has a bunch of computers. He has alot of computers it feels like he is a computer. He fixes so much computer problems it feels like he is smarter than a computer. I think he would look like a computer that you will type on. He will look like metal on a computer. He will have the buttons you type with on him. He will have a mouse that you click with on him. That’s why I think Mr. Sieverding should be a computer for Halloween.

Mrs.Hertz a Cop

By: Ella

I think that Mrs.Hertz should be a cop for Halloween. Why? Because she follows the rule so we will be safe. One rule is that she won’t let us go on top of the monkey bars. Also she won’t let us do flips in on the swings. A Lot of other stuff too.
I think Mrs.Hertz will have a golden badge.  That says “I am the school police to keep kids safe.” She will wear a black suit and pants. The back of the shirt will say “Police of Menno School.” That’s why I think Mrs. Hertz will be good at being a cop for Halloween.

Jimmy the Gym

By: Erick

I think that Jimmy should be a gym for Halloween. He cleans the gym after school. His name sounds like gym. He takes care of the gym. He has an office in the gym. He cleans everything in the gym like tables and the floor.

If he is a gym for Halloween he can have gym shorts. He can have a basketball that he can bring with him everywhere he goes. He can have a basketball hoop on his head and finally he can have a basket on his head with a net on his head.

Mrs. Smidt the Giraffe

By: Amanda

I think Mrs. Smidt should be a giraffe for Halloween. She would look like a giraffe and she could wear a lot of yellow. Then she could wear some flowers or brown spots everywhere. She could wear tanish shoes. Next she should die her yellow and die her ears yellow and put spots on her hair and her ears.

I think Mrs. Smidt should be a giraffe because when she is getting a book off the shelf it is sticking out her tongue like when a giraffe is getting leaves. She also is super tall and giraffes are also super tall. She also wears a lot of yellow and brown. She also has a big heart and a giraffe's heart can weigh up to 25 pounds. That's why I think Mrs. Smidt should be a giraffe.

Mr. Duxbury a Cowboy

by: Carol

Mr. Duxbury should be a cowboy because I think he would look good in a cowboy outfit. He would wear a cowboy shirt with cowboy boots. With a hat and maybe  jeans to and a stuffed cow and pig. I want to see him in a cowboy outfit. I think everyone will think he might be a little bit weird. I think he would be a good and he would look like a  cowboy.

It would be a good costume for him to wear and I think he would like it maybe. He would maybe look like a cowboy? He will also have to have other animals to work with. He will have a backpack full of  him.water and food to eat .He will look like a cowboy in the stuff have for him.

Mr.Bruckner the super basketball player

By: Cambria
I think Mr. Bruckner should be a super basketball player for Halloween. I think this because he loves sports. I think he also likes superheroes too. I know he likes sports because
he is a P.E. teacher.
If Mr.Bruckner is a basketball player superhero he will look like a person wearing a jersey. He will also wear a cape, P.E. shoes, shorts with the jersey. That's why I think Mr.Bruckner should be a super basketball player.

Mrs.Schaeffer as a Nerd

By:Izayah

I think Mrs.Schaeffer should be a nerd for Halloween. I think she should be a nerd because she is a teacher. I bet she likes a lot of subjects and nerds usually like a lot of subjects. I think she should be a nerd because nerds are sweet. I think she should be a nerd because she is smart. That is why she should be a nerd.
I think she should wear overalls. Another thing is glasses. She should also wear a long sleeve shirt. That is what she should wear. I think that is what she NEEDS TO WEAR!

Mrs. Hohn a Word

By Julianna
I think Mrs. Hohn should be a word for Halloween. Mrs. Hohn likes to teach kids words. Mrs. Hohn also likes to help kids to spell words out and say them. She also helps kids learn how to read words.
If Mrs. Hohn is a word for Halloween she would have every kind of word on her. Mrs. Hohn will have a headband that says words. Mrs. Hohn’s dress will be purple and have all kinds of words. Her shoes are going to say a word. That’s why Mrs. Hohn should be a word for Halloween.

Nicole a Hotdog

By: Madison
My mom is going to be a hotdog for Halloween. Why because she is a cook and she kind of likes hotdogs. We pretty much eat a lot of hot dogs. They are yummy with ketchup. My mom likes it with ketchup with mustard. I don’t like mustard.        My mom is going to have a ketchup on her shirt with mustard. The hotdog is going to red with ketchup and mustard. She will have red and yellow hair. Her legs will be red and yellow. Her ams is going to be red and yellow.

Mrs. Heckenlaible is a tree

By:Brayden

I think Mrs. Heckenlaible should be a tree for Halloween. She is very tall and she has a lot of hair. Her hair  could be the leaves. She also wears a yellow jacket that could be the sunlight. She also has funny jokes about trees. That’s why I think she should be a tree for Halloween.
She could wear brown clothes and dye her hair. She could also have birds on her.  She could have a squirrel on her. She could have a couple pieces of grass on her costume too. That’s why I think think she should be a tree.

The End

Mrs.Bolmenn

By:Irish

Think Ms. Bolmann should be Wonder woman for Halloween because she always wants us to be nice to each other. Also so we can make good sportsmanship. Also she wants us to work hard when we do our warm up. I also she is a great P.E teacher.
I also like that she makes us run sometimes. Another reason why is because she helps us in the mornings when she comes in.  I also like when we do our sit and reach because during that we can play line tag! Another reason why is because she is strong. That's why I think Ms. Bohlmann should be wonder women.

Ms. Lundberg should be Jack the Skeleton

I think that Ms. Lundberg should be Jack the Skeleton because she really likes him. She has a whole collection of him. She has two packages of pencils of him. She always keep them up for the whole season.
She will have bat wings on the side of her. She will have stripes on both sides. And bones too. And wearing a black suit.

4th Graders Build a Fort

By: Ella and the fourth grade class.

So fourth grade decided to make a hibernation place to stay warm at recess because it is getting cold out. So we what we used to make are fort is clay, wood chips, and dirt. We started digging holes and then we made a fort with the wood chips and clay we dug up. We added water to the wood chips so it would freeze. Brayden and Erick made up the digging club were they dig up clay for the fort. We made up a name for the fort club it's called Warthogs Club. We are adding on to the fort. But the little kids were knocking it down. But we managed to fix it and it is really cool.

Blue
Blue feels like a soft breeze through your hair.
Blue looks like the bright blue sky above you.
Blue smells like the ocean water.
Blue tastes like the clouds.
Blue sounds like the whistling of a chirping bird.

This poem was written by Haylee.

Tate’s Date
There once was a boy named Tate,
Who had to get a date.

It did not last long,
Because he wanted to play Hong Kong.

Now he does not have a mate.

Classroom Economy

This year we have been trying out a classroom economy system in 4th grade and the students LOVE it!  I even have students from previous years ask my why we didn't do this when they were in my class.  This classroom economy system is in place to encourage responsible and appropriate behavior.  Students can earn classroom money and be able to spend it at our class store. The can earn money in a variety of ways like having assignment books assigned daily, doing classroom jobs, getting 100% on a test, or caught being good to name a few. They also have to pay fines for rule infractions, not completing homework, and other ways. We also have disasters where the entire class pays a fine for misbehavior. (This was my husband's idea.  It is kind of like a natural disaster where everyone is affected. If my husband has his way they would probably be paying taxes!)

Along with learning consequences for their actions students are learning to be responsible for maintaining a checkbook, depositing payments, paying bills (rent on their desk), and paying fines. This project has allowed a lot of creative thinking in my classroom.  The students get to give suggestions for things to buy in the classroom store.  Food is always a hit, but they love different coupons that I make.
Here are some of the favorite coupons:

  • Our Tunes Pass- They get to play music for the entire class during work time.
  • My Tunes Pass- They get to listen to thier own music while they work.
  • Extra PE
  • Make my own Kahoot Pass
  • Get 100% on an assignment that they didn't do very well on.
  • Sit by a friend
  • Lunch in the classroom with the teacher

They best part about some of these passes is that students will work together to pay for classroom items like extra PE or lunch in the classroom. I love to hear conversations about budgeting in order to buy something bigger the next month and collaborating on how to pool their money together in order to buy class prizes.  I even had one student (and parent)  ask me if the desks were for sale so they could buy them and sell it back at the end of the year.  I also have students who will buy things for other people!  The picture above is Ellyana and she bought these items for her little brother.  She also asked if she could place them in his locker!  To say the least, students are learning a lot with this project and I will definitely continue this next year!

(Stay tuned next week because I will have two students adding posts because I created a job called the blogger.)
